Green Travel? Green Tourism? Eco Tourism?
Whatever you choose to call it, and there are many definitions, its about making vacation choices that support or even enhance that natural beauty and ecology of the area you visit. It’s for those of us who are looking for a great vacation experience while respecting and learning about the unique beauty and environment that make Sedona and the Verde Valley so special, and supporting businesses that have made a commitment to green business practices whenever possible.
A vacation in Sedona and the Verde Valley is an opportunity to visit, experience and learn about two rare free-flowing desert rivers, unique high desert habitats, staggering red rock formations, and world class hiking trails, all with a intriguing history and culture.
Local Green Certifications
Businesses that display the “Value the Verde” logo and sticker on their doors or in their literature have signed the Verde Compact, committing their businesses to helping preserve the Verde River and its environs. The Value the Verde program and the Verde Compact are a promise to continually improve green business practices. It is not an audited certification, but a commitment made by business owners to you and the community.
The “One for the Verde” program is a step up from Value the Verde. Participating businesses contribute a small percentage of every transaction they make to the program and that money is used for watershed improvement projects along the Verde River. You can learn more about One for the Verde, including a list of participating businesses at OneForTheVerde.org.
If you do business with any of these companies, you can be sure the owners care deeply about this special place. This website, Sedona-Arizona-Vacations.com, is proud to be a participant in both programs.
